How do I create an .xml file?
xml files can be created using a text editor or xml editors. You can either create one from scratch or edit an existing .xml file which complies with MSI Copy Control standard. To use an example .xml file and edit the details for your own use, click here to download.
How do I use special characters?
Special Characters which may be required for metadata or recipient data can be entered using the keyboard in the usual way.
Can the application be translated into another language (other than English?)
MSI Copy Control has been designed to be easily ported to another language for ease of use in non-english speaking countries and cultures. For details on development of these applications, please contact the MSI sales team who can assist with your enquiry.
What is an acceptable catalogue number for use in the application?
Any Red Book compliant 13 digit number may be used as a catalogue number, to help identify the disc and its contents.
What is an ISRC number, and why is it used?
The International Standard Recording Code (ISRC), defined by ISO 3901, is an international standard code used for uniquely identifying sound recordings and music video recordings.
What are the options available for creating protected discs?
For version 1 of the software, MSI Copy Control facilitates the production of watermarked and / or MSI V1 copy controlled discs.

My dongle has expired. How can I renew it?
Synchronising your local database with the global database automatically renews your dongle. Renewing the dongle is an automatic process carried out by the application on a daily basis. However if there is a problem with the renewal, you can contact the MSI team to discuss your requirements and an update code can be made available.
Is the system compatible with systems other than Rimage?
The MSI system has been designed specifically to be fully compliant with industry-standard Rimage hardware, including Protégé ranges.
How can I create a compatible list of recipient details for upload?
MSI Copy Control currently supports the upload of .csv (comma separated files) and .tsv (tab separated files). These can be created using a text editor or a spreadsheet editor. Why doesn't the preview of the disc label I have selected appear in the window?
To preview the labels in MSI Copy Control, you need to have installed an application called CD Designer. This ships as standard with Rimage equipment; for more details contact Rimage. You can still select labels and use this feature without previewing the label if you wish.
How can I customise the interface to remember selections by default?
The application has a section where all defaults may be set for each client, so that frequently used options can be selected automatically. This can speed up production and make the interface easier to use.
